When I found myself in a situation where full time year round employment was simply not an option (for several reasons), I signed on with three temp agencies. Most of my assignments were enjoyable — as I “presented” well, I was usually referred to admin asst positions for various CEOs and Vice Presidents of whatever, when their usual aides were on extended leave. I stayed with that agency long enough to have health insurance, not that I needed it! I know and knew then how very fortunate I was, as an older female (very near retirement age), to find interesting, useful, gainful employment. It still galls me that Anne was given the full “treatment” by the misogynists at Virginia Tech, destroying her hopes to study engineering. Your mom and I discussed it at length. How long will it be before there is equal treatment based on performance instead of pretty smiles and t & a?
